The house
Built in 1780. Central heating since 2019.
We bought the farmhouse and its barns in 2018 with more optimism than sense and spent a year making it warm, dry and quietly comfortable without making it look like a hotel. The stone floors, the beams and the slightly wonky staircase are original. The boiler, the wifi and the mattresses are not.
Breakfast is cooked to order between 8 and 9:30, mostly from the farm next door. There's always cake in the afternoon and an honesty bar in the sitting room.
